Old Dog. New Tricks. Sari’s First Whynatte.
  • Who says you can’t teach an old dog new tricks?

Sari flew in town from LA, for the Whynatte one year anniversary party this past weekend. We told her that she was coming to Atlanta for a worldwide arts and crafts festival, because we knew that would be the only way to persuade her to purchase a ticket. Like going to the dealership for a Lexus, and driving home in a Kia Sorrento, we had to pull the old “bait and switch.”

While Sari loves working with beads, she seemed to think that drinking Whynattes was an activity best reserved for convicts, polytheists, and rogue college students. In her mind, much better to drink a regular latte, and make a nice beaded bracelet.

After Sari had come down from her i’m not really going to an arts festival agitation, Aaron convinced her to give the Whynatte a try. I think he mentioned that it was full of vitamins and minerals, which Sari seemed to interpret as “it’s good for you.” Whatever it takes.

Here are the photos from Sari’s first Whynatte:

Who better to teach Sari about the Whynatte than Aaron? In his freshman year at UC Boulder, Aaron was responsible for introducing the Whynatte to the better part of the student body. Apparently UC Boulder almost changed their mascot from a Buffalo to an espresso machine.

Aaron, being the veteran that he is, releases his Jager shot from no less than a foot above the latte. Sari, understandably a bit more timid, lowers her Jager in a little more gingerly.

Drinking a Whynatte is like breaking a wild rhesus monkey: It can be done, but it’s best to keep your eyes on the task at hand.

Now she’s got it. Eyes on the latte, hand tilted slightly upwards, firm grip on the prize. It should be noted that Sari not only enjoyed her Whynatte, but that we went back for another immediately after finishing her first.
