Uncle Ike’s Coming to Town
  • I know what you’re thinking, and you’re wrong, James isn’t trying to rock a new style in exterior home decor. Nor is he rejoicing in the foreclosure of his neighbor’s townhouse. Nope, he’s getting ready for the arrival of everyone’s least favorite relative, Uncle Ike. James isn’t backing down, he’s standing tall and taking Ike head on. Ike has nothing on James, and you can bet that he will be hunkered down in Houston with the family, drinking Whynattes throughout the night. Good luck, James.

Whynatte: Giving people the strength to stay home in the midst of Category 4 hurricanes since 2004.

Take a photo with your favorite hibiscus tree, because this is surely the last you’re going to see of it:

Hello, I'm one of the co-founders of Whynatte, and currently handle the marketing, branding, and business development. I also handle the mail room, the black market primate side-operation, and most of the shipping and receiving. A little of this, a little of that. The fact that you're actually reading this indicates that you've lent us your time, and have an interest in Whynatte. Thank you. It's the gazillion people who've supported us along the way that make the difference. See you around....

No major damage to the casa, James? You have stood tall with your family in the face of nature’s fury.

  • Pray tell James, did the hibiscus bush out front make it through the night?

  • We made it out unscathed. Ike took one sniff of the extra strong latte I brewed up for him and moved on to the apartments next door.

The hibisci(?) stayed in the ground, but they’ve seen better days. The small trees in the background look barer than a baby’s bottom, but are also still in place.

All in all, I have no interest in ever riding out another hurricane. That smile on my face was replaced with dead fear at about 4am Saturday morning.
