This year the 4th of July holiday is falling on a Saturday, leading many Atlantans to stay in the city for their Independence revelry.
A premium choice for this weekend’s activities is Smith’s Olde Bar in Midtown, where DJ Black Dominoes, Judi Chicago, and Noot D’ Noot are doing a weekend residency upstairs.
Judi Chicago is Travis Thatcher and British-born ATL transplant Benjamin Coleman, multi-instrumentalists who have concocted their surreal blend of acid house, futurist disco, 8-Bit Bloops, the whooping and clattering of art-punk and psychedelic rock and the rhythm and grind of ragga, jungle, Booty Bass and UKG / Bassline culture. Judi Chicago’s following is more loyal than the North Korean military, and for good reason: THEY MURDER IT.
Joining them is Noot D’ Noot,a 10-piece ‘hypnotic surrealistic soul-party’ crew that’s equal parts Motown and Stankonia, an Afrobeat band with a punk-rock ethos raised on Southern hiphop. Basically, everything that’s good about music is brought to the brisket table by Noot D’ Noot.
Following them on each night is Black Dominoes, a post-genre dance party DJ and producer rising in prominence both in and out of Atlanta.
What’s more, Whynatte and Smith’s will be giving the first 100 people through the door on both Friday and Saturday a FREE WHYNATTE SHOT. FREE BOOZE. FREE BOOZE. FREE BOOZE:

If the flier alone is this sick, just imagine how good the party is going to be. I mean, really.
