I’ll Have the Tenderloin, Hold the Bearnaise Sauce
  • Tomorrow night is Friday. Today is Thursday. Now that we’ve got those facts out of the way, lets start talking specifics. Specifically, there’s a real sweet event going down tomorrow night at Greg Mike’s ABV Gallery. Greg recently opened ABV as a place to run his creative agency from, and as a gallery to highlight various artists from around the country. It’s a great little space over in the Studio Walk complex on Auburn Ave, right next to Serpas, a restaurant where I ate an actual tenderloin at earlier this week.

Titled The Tenderloin Project, the exhibit opens tomorrow, and showcases photographer Sean Desmond’s immersion into the Tenderloin, one of San Francisco’s most notoriously shady neighborhoods. Seriously, I used to live out there, and the Tenderloin was more like a braised flank steak than a filet mignon. When I was in college, I used to go to underground raves in the Tenderloin that were sketchier than a grown man wearing a vest made out of Spanish moss. Related: Sean’s work is said to be an honest photographic look at life in the Tenderloin.

This isn’t going to be your typical pretentious jackass snoozefest gallery opening. I went to the last opening at ABV, and at one point there were about a dozen of us pounding Whynatte bombs like nobody’s business. PBR’s also sponsoring it, so count on plenty of frosty cold beers to lubricate your check book. Needless to say, there will be plenty of Whynattes on hand, so pack a few extra lactaid.

For more information on the gallery, animals with hoofs, or the Tenderloin Project, visit ABV’s website at www.abvatl.com.

    Hope to see you there!

Hello, I'm one of the co-founders of Whynatte, and currently handle the marketing, branding, and business development. I also handle the mail room, the black market primate side-operation, and most of the shipping and receiving. A little of this, a little of that. The fact that you're actually reading this indicates that you've lent us your time, and have an interest in Whynatte. Thank you. It's the gazillion people who've supported us along the way that make the difference. See you around....
