The Constellations Album Release Party
  • I woke up this morning feeling like I had been riding an unbroken yak through the mountains of Nepal. In other words, my entire body was sore, my head was pounding, I was wearing chaps, and my bed was covered in soft wispy hairs. It seemed unlikely that I had been riding an unbroken yak through Nepal, so it would make sense that this feeling was due to the fact that I’d been out until approximately 3am celebrating the release of The Constellations new album Southern Gothic. While this explanation does little to explain the abundance of soft hairs in my bed, the life size Alf costume at the foot of the bed may turn out to be the missing link. We all have our vices.

Arguably my biggest local band crush, The Constellations are a force to be reckoned with. They’ve gone from a ragtag crew holding down part time jobs at Urban Outfitters while chasing the dream, to a ragtag crew with a Virgin Records contract and full time jobs living the dream. They’ve gone from selling pashmina scarves to buying them by the truckload, and with the release of Southern Gothic, something tells me that these kids have a lot of fine shawls in their future.

In case you just awoke from a coma, Whynatte and The Constellations have quite a storied history together. The Constellations have performed at numerous Whynatte shows, consumed numerous Whynattes at numerous Whynatte shows, and have shown us a ton of support over the past 2 years. In return, we have opened up bank accounts and taken out credit cards using their names and personal information. So, a big congratulations to The Constellations. They’ve come a long way, and they’ve got a bright future ahead. Pick up a copy of their album on iTunes, and look out for them in a city near you.

We were fortunate enough to grab some footage from last night’s show at the Clermont Lounge. Take a gander at the Constellations performing Setback and Perfect Day:

Hello, I'm one of the co-founders of Whynatte, and currently handle the marketing, branding, and business development. I also handle the mail room, the black market primate side-operation, and most of the shipping and receiving. A little of this, a little of that. The fact that you're actually reading this indicates that you've lent us your time, and have an interest in Whynatte. Thank you. It's the gazillion people who've supported us along the way that make the difference. See you around....
