Here at Whynatte, we’re always trying to figure out innovative new ways to give you free stuff, get you drunk, gamble, eat more bacon, and most importantly, enrich the lives of those around you.  So, it’s with that in mind that Whynatte is a proud sponsor of Cap’N Larry’s Battle Royale Poker Tournament.  Brought to you by the kindred folks at Freeroll Atlanta and The Vortex, and sponsored by some of the most mammalian brands in Atlanta (our design happy amigos at Esperanza ATL, for instance), Cap’N Larry’s poker tournament is going wrap everything you like about Whynatte drinking, gambling, and bacon, into one convenient little charitable package that will benefit Larry Taylor, Vortex’s longest employed worker. Larry just had hip surgery and we’re looking to help him pay some bills while he recovers. Good thing the healthcare situation in our country is so healthy (sarcasm).

Also, I would suggest buying raffle tickets. Not only do you have the chance to win cold hard cash in the tourny, there’s a ton of really exceptional prizes being given away, a few Whynatte gift baskets with all the most choice fixin’s, and gift certificates to some great ATL bars and restaurants. Not to mention that it’s all being done for a really good cause.

Here’s a write up of the event from Freeroll Atlanta’s website, with more details on the way it’s all going down tomorrow night:

Join us April 18th at The Vortex Little Five Points at 8pm to help raise some money for the Vortex’s longest employed worker, Larry Taylor! Larry’s been working for the Vortex for 18 of Vortex’s 20 years.  He just had hip surgery and we’re looking to help him pay some bills while he recovers.

A $40 buy-in will get you a seat in the tournament.  We will allow rebuys for the first 4 blind levels.  A portion of the money raised will go back to pay the top 3 spots.  As with most of our charity tournaments, 1.5 times the points will be awarded.

We’ve also got $5 raffle tickets for sale.  Over 30 local companies have contributed some amazing prizes.  We’ve got gift certificates for bars and restaurants, gift certificates to some of Atlanta’s best tattoo artists, and tons of other goodies from all sorts of businesses.

We’ll also have American Apparel shirts designed by Esperanza ATL for $20 a piece, sporting the design shown above!

There will be no poker at the Vortex Midtown location that night.  They’ll be doing their own Super Stack Heart Attack contest that night.
